3 of the students on The University of Bolton’s Effects courses were provided with industry feedback on their recent Professional Project from Bruno Baron, CG supervisor on the recent Bond Movie, Skyfall. Double Negative (who won the Oscar for Visual Effects for their work on Inception) provided students on the final year of the BSc course with a project to digitally recreate a scene that Double Negative supplied. New Panasonic HD Camera arrives!

We have just received the new Panasonic AF-101 along with a Convergent Design Nanoflash recording device. This allows our students to record broadcast quality footage (it has just been approved for BBC HD acquisition see http://www.bbc.co.uk/commissioning/downloads/BBC_Approved_HD_Cameras.pdf) for their FX projects.

New Infinity Curve

Over the summer we have completed the build of our own Infinity Curve. This is a large green screen stage area (approximately 20ft by 12ft) that has curved backs and corners and is floor to ceiling painted in a special shade of green that allows for easy removal of the background in post production. This specialist facility allows the creation of green screen footage without the common limitations of corner shadows and variation in saturation and brightness that is common with flat green screens.
